DANGER vs WARNING vs CAUTION vs NOTICE?

Signal words are defined by ANSI Z535.2-2023 and indicate the severity of the hazard:

• DANGER (red header) — death or serious injury will result if the hazard is not avoided. Used only for the most extreme situations.
• WARNING (orange header) — death or serious injury could result if not avoided.
• CAUTION (yellow header) — minor or moderate injury could result.
• NOTICE (blue header) — no physical injury risk. Used for policies, rules, and property protection messages.
